Because its value is higher, you will pay more in sales tax as well in insurance. On the other hand, choosing a new vehicle means you pay much more than a comparable used model. They also come from the factory with warranty coverage for at least the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. New cars boast improved fuel efficiency, often contributing to reduced fuel costs overall. You will also likely have all of the advanced safety features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning, which older used cars will probably lack. Are New Cars Worth It?īuying a new car means you can get the newest technology like Apple CarPlay and Bluetooth phone connectivity. Both options have their fair share of advantages and disadvantages. The first big decision you have to take is whether to buy a new or used car. Let’s explore some important financial considerations for buying a car, as well as some techniques recent graduates can use to prepare for the purchase. Yes, there’s a lot to consider, but luckily, there are lots of options out there as well. So what do you do? With a little planning and research, it’s definitely possible to qualify for an auto loan and get yourself a new ride without sliding into insurmountable levels of debt. The average new model costs in excess of $31,000, with even small sedans approaching the $20,000 mark when fitted with basic features. Today, in addition to their exorbitant student loans, graduates are sliding further into debt due to rising car prices. You want to drive to work in your own car rather than your parent’s old ride – but can you afford it? You’ve just graduated, with a crisp new diploma you’re ready to take on the world and are excited for your first day of work at your new “adult job”. Buying a Car When You Have Student Loan Debt

4/16/2024 0 Comments Elder scrolls arena psp homebrewHardware and software technology continues to drive improvement in video games, with support for high-definition video at high framerates and for virtual and augmented reality-based games. As triple-A video game production became more costly and risk-averse, opportunities for more experimental and innovative independent game development grew over the 2000s and 2010s, aided by the popularity of mobile and casual gaming and the ease of digital distribution. To take advantage of these shifts, traditional revenue models were supplanted with ongoing revenue stream models such as free-to-play, freemium, and subscription-based games. Nintendo developed the Wii with motion-sensing controls, which helped to draw in non-traditional players and helped to resecure Nintendo's position in the industry Nintendo followed this same model in the release of the Nintendo Switch.įrom the 2000s and into the 2010s, the industry has seen a shift of demographics as mobile gaming on smartphones and tablets displaced handheld consoles, and casual gaming became an increasingly larger sector of the market, as well as a growth in the number of players from China and other areas not traditionally tied to the industry. While Sony and Microsoft continued to develop hardware for comparable top-end console features, Nintendo opted to focus on innovative gameplay. Microsoft entered the console hardware market in the early 2000s with its Xbox line, fearing that Sony's PlayStation positioned as a game console and entertainment device, would displace personal computers. By the late 1990s, the Internet also gained widespread consumer use, and video games began incorporating online elements. Optical media via CD-ROMs began to be incorporated into personal computers and consoles, including Sony's fledgling PlayStation console line, pushing Sega out of the console hardware market while diminishing Nintendo's role. In the early 1990s, advancements in microprocessor technology gave rise to real-time 3D polygonal graphic rendering in game consoles, as well as in PCs by way of graphics cards. The first major handheld video game consoles appeared in the 1990s, led by Nintendo's Game Boy platform. The latter part of the 1980s and early 1990s included video games driven by improvements and standardization in personal computers and the console war competition between Nintendo and Sega as they fought for market share in the United States. Nintendo released its Nintendo Entertainment System in the United States in 1985, helping to rebound the failing video games sector. The crash prompted Japan's video game industry to take leadership of the market, which had only suffered minor impacts from the crash. The 1983 video game crash in the United States was characterized by a flood of too many games, often of poor or cloned qualities, and the sector saw competition from inexpensive personal computers and new types of games being developed for them. Coupled with rapid growth in the golden age of arcade video games, including Space Invaders and Pac-Man, the home console market also flourished. After its home console conversions, numerous companies sprang up to capture Pong 's success in both the arcade and the home by cloning the game, causing a series of boom and bust cycles due to oversaturation and lack of innovation.īy the mid-1970s, low-cost programmable microprocessors replaced the discrete transistor–transistor logic circuitry of early hardware, and the first ROM cartridge-based home consoles arrived, including the Atari Video Computer System (VCS). The first home video game console was the Magnavox Odyssey, and the first arcade video games were Computer Space and Pong. The first consumer video game hardware was released in the early 1970s. Spacewar! was developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) student hobbyists in 1962 as one of the first such games on a video display. The history of video games began in the 1950s and 1960s as computer scientists began designing simple games and simulations on minicomputers and mainframes. 4/16/2024 0 Comments Black bear diner menu boise idThe host staff was friendly and competent. They are a little slow in getting the food out, but not so much that it warrants a reprimand. The service was fantastic on both visits. The restaurant is not very big and it seems that no matter what time of day you go, there is a wait though, not a very long one. The onions were tender and not at all tough. Chose the onion rings side and they were cooked to crispy perfection. Here it was beautifully bright green and creamy just as an avocado should be. One of my huge restaurant issues is the black avocado that they often serve. The burger was bigger than the bun and had perfect avocado on it. Spicy Turkey Burger $ 8.99 – Grilled turkey burger, pepper jack cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, red onion, and green chili mayo.I chose the side of fries again, and though they were not as crispy as the first time, they were still quite good. This sandwich has their delicious tri-tip in it, so had to go with it on my second visit. French Dip Sandwich $8.99 – Thinly sliced roast beef stacked on a French roll with au jus.We enjoyed our first meal here so much that we decided to stop for lunch again at the end of our trip. Will try the Bear Claw next time, because I joined their e-club and they send you a coupon for one and a cup of coffee. The whipped cream was good, but that does not warrant ever getting it again. Unfortunately, the bananas were brown the crust had no taste and was tough & dry rather than flaky. $1 went to the Make a Wish Foundation, so that’s a plus that I support. Banana Cream Pie $4.99 – Looks beautiful, taste not so much.We chose the fries and they were nice shoestring style cut potatoes that were wonderfully crispy, just the way I like them. With the sandwiches, you have a choice of one side, either french fries, onion rings, potato salad, cole slaw, green salad, or a cup of soup. We shared this meal and they did a split plate without us asking and without any additional charge. The bacon was crisp without having to ask and the turkey was moist and tasty. Turkey Club Sandwich $8.99 – A traditional triple-decker sandwich of roasted turkey breast, bacon, ham, tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise on toasted white bread.Definitely a hearty meal for being on the lighter fare menu. Along with the meat, you receive mashed potatoes with gravy and vegetables. The beef was delicious and tender, nicely seasoned, and cooked to perfection. With these smaller portion entrées, you still receive either a cup of soup or a salad to start.
4/16/2024 0 Comments Cortana text to speech windows 10Mary Jo Foley was told that the new dictation button is an outgrowth of “ Dictate,” a project rolled out last year from Microsoft’s research labs. You can use it to dictate with a single click. If you have the latest and greatest Office programs, linked to an Office 365 subscription, then a new button may have appeared in the toolbars for Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, and OneNote. Right now it only works if you use a US English keyboard it may follow Cortana as it rolls out globally. Microsoft has basic instructions and a long list of the special commands that you can use with Windows 10 dictation – punctuation, commands to delete and select text, and a few more. It’s a big step forward from the previous Windows speech recognition. With that in mind – try it! What do you have to lose? Some people are so comfortable dictating that this will be helpful even if it’s not perfect. Your experience might be far worse if you talk quickly or talk to your laptop in Starbucks. When I’m dictating, I speak slowly without an accent in a quiet environment. I can only tell you subjectively that I have to fix more errors than I wish was necessary. I don’t have any way to judge accuracy by percentages. I’ve been experimenting with different microphones on different computers. You can dictate anywhere that text can be typed – Word, Outlook emails, or any other program that accepts typing.Īnd the results are. The microphone also turns off automatically if you start typing, or after a delay of a few seconds. Use the Windows key + H key to toggle dictation off and on. When you hit Windows key + H, a bar will appear across the top of the screen and the computer will be listening. (You’ll have to memorize that keyboard shortcut – just remember it’s Windows key + H because “dictate” does not have an H in it.) If your Windows 10 computer has a microphone, hold down the Windows key and hit H. If you have a desktop computer, you’re not ready to dictate until you get a headset with a microphone. You know you need a microphone to dictate to your computer, right? If you have a laptop, it has a microphone built into it. There are no settings for it and it is used only for text entry, not for controlling programs or doing anything special. Last year Microsoft added a second speech recognition engine to Windows 10. There’s a reason you didn’t know it was there. You can still find it in Windows 10 If you do a search for “windows speech recognition.” It’s clumsy to set up and not very accurate. It has languished ever since, appearing virtually unchanged in all the versions of Windows released since then. Microsoft first built speech recognition into Windows more than 10 years ago, when Vista was released. (The previous version, Dragon 13, is still available, but it’s not as effective and seems to have some issues with Windows 10.) The current version, Dragon Professional Individual 15, is top notch. One fundamental truth has not changed: If you are serious about dictating on a computer, there is no alternative to the Dragon Naturally Speaking products. They’re still not great but you might want to give them a try if you haven’t talked to your computer in a while. Here's the command if anyone wants to see it:Ĭp -r HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\CortanaVoices\Tokens HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\Voices\Ĭp -r HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\CortanaVoices\Tokens HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Speech\Voices\Ĭp -r hklm:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech\Voices\Ĭp -r hklm:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Speech_OneCore\Voices\Tokens HKLM:\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Speech\Voices\Īny hints, suggestions and help is gladly welcome and I will be greatful for anything y'all say.Microsoft has quietly improved the speech recognition features in Windows 10 and in the Office programs. My question for y'all is: How can I get these voices to be available for any other speech application on my computer? I have this powershell CMDlet that is able to get the offline Cortana voice, Microsoft Eva and other mobile voices from Windows OneCore available, but it doesn't work for these narrator voices. I'd rather use the screen reader I payd for. I don't like Narrator, I don't want to use it. The voice looks amazing, reads amazing, but it is slow on lower quality processors. Anyway, when I turned Narrator on, it asked me to install natural voices, and so I did. Am using a third party Chinese screen reader. I just turned on Narrator for the first time after getting this machine. 4/16/2024 0 Comments Drexel furniture catalog 1950At the time, producers were focused on custom furniture. Whitely, the Baltimore dealer, says it hits him when he's driving through neighborhoods. Many no longer want or need houses full of furniture. People who bought homes in the 1950s and '60s would now be in their 70s and 80s. Stewart may be onto something: After World War II, home ownership surged. When I tell Stewart, his design partner, that I see Drexel Declaration all over design blogs and in magazines, Stewart looks at me puzzled. Finally, he settles on this explanation: "I think there is a huge market for nicely designed things." He says he's bought a few pieces just for fun, but he's not sure why other people would want them. He's been visiting a site called 1stdibs because it sometimes lists his designs. It turns out, MacDougall has also been shopping. I was curious to know what they think of today's midcentury modern craze. They're both well into their 80s and living in California. I tracked down Stewart MacDougall and Kipp Stewart, who designed my dining set. Similarly, back in the '50s, no one was talking about "midcentury modern" - not even the people who were there creating it. "And the term was actually coined in the '60s it was not a term used in the 1920s." "In the late 1960s, art deco became very popular," Tigerman says. That same thing happened with art deco a generation earlier. The End Of The Space Shuttle Era Out Of This World: Designs Of The Space Age They wouldn't just throw it away and go to Wal-Mart and buy a new one." And if something were to break, like the drawer of a dresser were to break, they would fix it. "They worked hard and they bought things with cash. "My grandparents were very frugal," Alhbrandt says. (She even keeps a blog called My Mid-Century Modern Life.) She describes the style as "clean and functional" and says it reminds her of the values of her grandparents' generation. She's drawn to the simplicity of midcentury design. Martina Alhbrandt loves finding and fixing up vintage pieces, things her parents would call dated or tacky. 'People Tend To Like What Their Grandparents Liked' It's definitely more of a younger, urban look." They grew up with it and their parents had bought it, so they want anything but that. According to Stacey Greer, Whitely's business partner, "They just don't want to look at it anymore, they want something different. So who are those people? Let's start with who they aren't: baby boomers. It really is," says Eddy Whitely, a midcentury modern furniture dealer in Baltimore. #Windows Disk Format Tool #Free Hard Drive Partition Formatter #Windows As long as the drive you tend to format is visible, you can use the Format option to start a quick format with a few simple steps. 4/16/2024 0 Comments Ikea dreambox hackSo I'm wondering if there are any hacks some of you use for organization. I already have some pretty good stuff: a beautiful wooden desk with three drawers and room for shelves, an Ikea EXPEDIT, and a piece of countertop that's pretty large. That said, I'm not sure I'd actually buy one. I never paid much attention to the Scrapbox/Dreambox before, but now I'm kinda getting obsessed! I just moved into a new home and am setting up my craft room. Remember such things as how far out a drawer or a door will open and be sure to leave ample room for that as well as reaching and getting out what inside. I think you may have eluded to it, but when decided how things will fit in a room, the footprint is not the only thing to keep in mind. I am not fond of the idea of my big vac being full of glitter or brads etc. I like smooth surface floors for cleaning. Will you need to have heavy duty power bars and where will they go? If you want to work on different things at the same time.maybe then you want to keep a box or something you can put the active project in.put it over in the card section, pull out the action box for your quilting and spread out on the table.if that makes sense? As it is, you may HAVE to have dedicated clear spaces along the wall for storage of a sewing machine, die cutting machine, etc.Īlso look at your sockets in the wall and plan how you will have electric to both run things and have spot lighting if you have overhead or all your lighting if you dont. Giving each space it's own table would take up a lot of room. This way no matter which one I am doing I have the table in the middle. Then I would have Craft A on this wall, Craft B on that wall, etc. Given that you mention you want to do multi crafts.I would likely go with a main table in the middle. You can fit a small store worth in a room, but if you feel like it is a cave in the bad sense and you are not happy in it.you wont work in it. I would go with white or pale woods unless my room is pretty darn big. (ie the room is 8 feet wide so after the units on the wall.) I might push around chairs to the boundaries to get an even better feel for the clearance. Three feet might sound like enough room for your middle.till you are in it. Doing it on graph paper is ok for a start.but not the same to me as actually what it will be in real life. Just because you can fit stuff in a room.you can suddenly feel very closed in because there is not a lot of room in the middle. Cut pieces to the dims of the furniture you want to put in-or how deep wall shelves would be and lay them on the floor. When doing a whole room.i always suggest people get a roll of brown paper. Some people dont want to see anything and some people want to see it all. You have to be honest with yourself about what works for YOU-not what looks pretty or works for other people cuz they are not there to use it right? Maybe drawers are good or maybe open uprights are good. LOL I know-she wanted to show one can do it alone. ** Did I not see a man with the toddler sitting off to the side in the first vid where she is assembling the shelves? I believe in using all the assets around.including a second pair of hands. You will lose space because you have to leave clearance for the box to open. Unless you need the room to multi-task for you. If you are going to have a dedicated room.I personally would probably not do it. I see it as a choice when you don't have a lot of room. Sounds like you might have already gotten the box so I am just saying. While I see the coolness of a scrapbox (and I am very impressed with how handy/creative she is**.I personally am looking at the smaller hand drill since I am a tool freak). 4/16/2024 0 Comments Trauma signThese refer to the traits and viewpoints you held before the trauma. Recovery, as a general rule, involves a number of tasks to work through, and you can’t really skip any of these.Īccording to the Extended Transformational Model, trauma recovery happens in five stages: Trauma isn’t something you can just “get over” with a snap of your fingers. There’s no official roadmap, but keeping these 7 considerations in mind may prove helpful along your way. Just as trauma can take many different forms, trauma recovery take a multitude of paths. You may have no idea where you’re going or how to get there - but that’s OK. Your journey may involve obstacles, detours, and delays, along with setbacks and lost ground. Healing from such a profound change often takes a long time, and trauma recovery isn’t always pretty, or linear. This disruption can have a ripple effect on all corners of your life, from your plans for the future to your physical health and relationship with your own body. Trauma can challenge your ideas of how the world works and who you are as a person. But it can still linger long-term, as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Since threats can involve physical or psychological harm, trauma doesn’t always leave you with visible injuries. But traumatic events can also be complex, or ongoing and repeated over time, like neglect or abuse. A traumatic event could involve a single brush with death, like a car crash. There’s no set threshold of what harm is “bad enough” to cause trauma. A few characters picked up scars, which was worrisome because one of our characters picked up a second scar, which put us all on edge as with a third one your character is lost for the entire game.įor our second attempt the board still seemed unfavourable, but we had a couple of excellent funded events that allowed us to manipulate and bypass the infection deck at some opportune moments. It didn’t feel good to lose, but we jumped right back in to try again. After some valiant work from the Quarantine Specialist the blue virus just became too much and we lost from not having enough blue pieces to put on the board during the infection step. The initial board set up saw COdA-403a blowing up across Europe and North America, so we knew we’d be under the cosh from the start. Also, relationships were added to the game, which are permanent stickers that add abilities to characters that are situational between each other. The markers are not removed by the infection deck in cities where she is. Also a new character was added to the mix, the Quarantine Specialist, who unsurprisingly makes extra use of the markers, being able to place them, once per turn, anywhere on the map. Quarantine markers from box number 1 įebruary was a month of new things! We were given quarantine markers that are used as a buffer for the infection deck, an extremely useful tool. It didn’t take long for us to suffer our first defeat, so let’s take a look at what happened. until another time! February (Spoilers ahead!) But, alas, our session was now over so we had to break camp for the day. The game also instructed us to destroy the objective card about curing 4 diseases, as blue is now incurable.Īll in all our first play was a great experience, but the excitement really came from the Legacy deck and opening the Top Secret envelopes, so we couldn’t wait to play the next game. We barely squeaked out a win with only one blue cube remaining before we lost!Īfter each scenario you get to choose two game end upgrades, and we chose to upgrade the Medic with the Forecaster upgrade so he could look at the deck, in order to be able to better combat upcoming infections and to add a permanent starting research center to the city of Kolkata. As a result of opening the envelope the blue virus, now classified as ‘COdA-403a’, was incurable and untreatable! There was now a permanent sticker added to the board to prove it! Now we had to find only 3 cures, but had to do a LOT of damage control in North America and Europe. There’s something about opening those packets that is very stimulating, knowing that your game will indelibly change the game is something very foreign to most board gamers, who usually take great care of components and would never dream of ruining or destroying a part of it. The initial set up seemed pretty pedestrian but after the second Epidemic card and a couple of outbreaks we were instructed to open the first Top Secret envelope. The board is destined to change, considerably, over the course of our journey through our 1st Legacy Style game. And yet others were excited to just dive right in. Other’s were worried that we’d waste time on a ‘light game’ when we could be playing heavier more interesting games. But the Legacy and progressional aspects of the game had me chomping at the bit to play. The reviews of the game had been stellar, but was it just too much hype or is there something real there? In my opinion the Pandemic base set isn’t particularly amazing, and after a few plays can feel very routine. There was a variety of feelings from our group towards the game, which included both eager anticipation and reserved apprehension. So we opened the game and set up for the month of January. So here goes with our monthly summary: January Matt bought a copy of Pandemic Legacy: Season 1 a few months back and we thought we’d document our journey through the game as we play so you can compare and contrast your own stories that evolved out of the box! We plan on playing 1-2 times per month on Saturday’s focusing on only one month. Jump to: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, |
